Comments: The water in Apple Creek was perfect for fishing this morning. I fished from 7 when there was still frost on the grass until 11. A great flow of water, 2-ft visibility and not many other anglers about. I hooked up with 14 trout, and landed 10. The two largest fish were fat 15-16 inchers and good jumpers to boot. Caught five on a Jumbo Chewing Gum pattern (a worm mimic) and four on a small bead head nymph tied with CDC fibers.
Yesterday when I walked the bank I saw more anglers out and one who had landed 8 including a nice-sized brown trout. Please report your browns. We need to make decisions about the ratio of browns and rainbows that we stock.
And please, please practice catch and careful release. All my trout were caught on barbless, jig hooks. One trout had a big chunk missing from its back, a run-in with a predator no doubt.
