Comments: On the water around 9:30, only car in the lot. Water was low and gin clear, and temps are growing marginal. Took temps repeatedly in various stream sections. Most hovered at 65-66, probably a few degrees cooler on the bottom of the shaded deeper pools, where most trout were holding. Highest temp taken was 68 in warm, non-moving shallows. Son lost one on a hare's ear with a zebra midge dropper, not sure which nymph was chosen. I landed one healthy rainbow on a swung copper soft hackle. Fish was played quickly and released ASAP. Given the water temps and overall sluggish fish behavior, we left at noon. Probably best to lay off them without rain or cooler weather. Drove by Gatton Rocks section of the Upper Clear Fork and found not browns but a packed madhouse of booze, bikinis and blaring music. Not our scene so we called it a day. The landowner must be a saint to allow those shenanigans.
