Comments: On Saturday morning, October 20, chapter members and friends stocked Apple Creek at Grosjean Park with ca. 600 rainbow and brown trout along a one mile stretch of the stream. The cost of purchasing the trout came from a grant provided by the Ohio Division of Wildlife to instruct novice and beginner fly anglers. The weather cooperated and we had a successful weekend teaching kids and adults the art of fly fishing.
The stream is now open to the public. We strongly request that you practice Catch and careful Release of the trout you catch. We also request that you use only barbless flies and and lures when you fish. Please do not fish with bait. Baited hooks often lodge deeply in the fishes mouth or gills. When released, these fish often do not survive.
Catch and Release is the only way we can sustain the Apple Creek fishery year round. We appreciate your cooperation. The chapter does not have the fiscal resources to stock the stream more than twice a year. We will stock again in November. Trout cost an average of $6 each for the chapter to purchase. If you do encounter anglers not following our requests, politely remind them that it would be appreciated if they would practice C&R.
PLEASE DO LET US KNOW HOW YOU ENJOYED YOUR FISHING EXPERIENCE ON APPLE CREEK BY POSTING YOUR FISHING REPORT ON THIS WEBSITE. THIS WILL INFORM US ON FUTURE OF STOCKINGS OF THE STREAM.
Thanks, Skip Nault
