Comments: I fished for a few hours in the afternoon, from about 2pm until dark. The water was extremely low and extremely clear. I measured the temp at about 49 degrees, which aligned with the energy I saw out of the 2 fish I caught. Air temps were somewhere in the mid- to low-50s.
I was using my keiryu rod for the first time, and I think it paid off today. The fish were extremely picky. I think they were leader-shy as well. The fish I caught were on 7x tippet with a size 20 black/silver zebra midge drifting through deep holes with a small indicator. They were all stacked up in various holes on the creek, likely due to the low water levels.
Using 7x tippet is definitely a challenge, and I had 3 hookups that broke off to prove it.
I saw a bunch of other anglers on the creek today as well. Most were fly fishers, but I saw a couple spinning anglers as well. I talked to a couple other fly anglers who didn't have any luck on the creek today. They were also using super light tippet.
Overall it was a great day for fishing, albeit very difficult.
